Glass scarab necklaces became popular during the Egyptian Revival period in the 1920s. They were inspired by ancient Egyptian motifs -often featured in jewelry designs of that era

from 1800s through early 1900s fobs were considered as part of a gentleman's attire. Primarily decorative, they were suspended from metal mesh or ribbons, or worn dangling from a watch.. i.e. "watch fob"
